Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Results:

The test item consisted of partially transparent, agglomerated particles of various shapes.
The test item was tested as a liquid dispersion in heptane. Before the measurement the test item was mixed with heptane and homogenised. This dispersion was fed to the sample unit, which was filled with heptane. Subsequently the diluted dispersion was pumped to the optical system. After passing the analyser beam the sample was pumped back into the small volume sample dispersion unit.

After adjusting the laser, measuring the background (heptane) and adjusting the correct particle concentration (obscuration), the measurement was started. The control software automatically performed three measurements. The average of these three measurements was given as a result. Two test series of three measurements each were performed. The measurement time was 12 s.

Individual results:

D50: 94.37 µm (1st test series), 80.45 µm (2nd test series)

D10: 10.86 µm (1st test series), 9.16 µm (2nd test series)

D90: 287.5 µm (1st test series, 294.4 µm (2nd test series)

The measurements showed three maxima at approximately 1 µm, approximately 15 µm and approximately 100 µm.

Description of key information

The volumetric particle size distribution:

D50: 87.4 µm

D10: 10.0 µm

D90: 291 µm

Additional information

The volumetric particle size distribution was determined by laser diffraction under consideration of CIPAC MT 187, ISO13320, OECD 110 and US EPA OCSPP 830.7520.
