Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The endpoint “phototransformation in water” is not a data requirement for the registered substance. However, for the sake of completeness this endpoint is covered by a short summary of the available data. There are a total of 2 studies on the phototransformation in water available. Both studies were performed under GLP conditions.

In the first study, the photolytic degradation of (E)-1-(2-chloro-1,3-thiazol-5-ylmethyl)-3-methyl-2-nitroguanidine was investigated in natural US river water. Under the experimental conditions used, the test substance was thoroughly degraded with an experimental half-life (DT50) of 25.to 27.8 hours.

The second study investigated the photolytic degradation of (E)-1-(2-chloro-1,3-thiazol-5-ylmethyl)-3-methyl-2-nitroguanidine in sterile aqueous buffer solution at pH 7. Under the experimental conditions used, the test substance degraded rapidly with an experimental half-life (DT50) of 3.3 hours (mean of two labels; 1st order rate constant = 0.2088 hr-1; r2 = 0.9895). The experimental half-life corresponds to a calculated environmental half-life of 0.6 days under midsummer solar light conditions e.g. at Phoenix/USA.
