Description of key information
The water solubility of 1,6-dichlorohexane was determined to to be 57.0 mg/L (pH 6.01) at 20 ± 0.5 °C. Thus the test item regarded as slightly soluble.

A study was conducted according to OECD TG 105 and Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 method A.6 to determine the water solubility of 1,6 dichlorohexane. Using the flask method the water solubility of 1,6 dichlorohexane was determined to be 57.0 mg/L (ph 6.01) at 20 °C. Furthermore the water solubility of 1,6-dichlorohexane was reported as 8.5 mg/L in Yaws Handbook of Properties for Environmental and Green Engineering. In addition the water solubility was calculated to be 41.29 mg/L using QSAR method as recommended in guidance IR/CSA section R.7.1.7.3 using ACD Labs and WSKOWWIN software. These values support the range of the water solubility as determined in the key study. The value from the GLP and guideline study was chosen as key parameter for the water solubility.
