Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

In the biodegradation test (see section 5.2.1), the substance 1,6-Dichlorohexane is classified as not readily biodegradable in the 10-d-window and after 61 days according to OECD guideline no. 301. However, the biodegradation of the test item came to 54 % after 61 days. In a lower study, the substance showed continuing biodegradation. However, the substance is biodegradable. Thus, based on the available data the substance has to be treated as P, but not as vP.

The n-octanol/water partition coefficient (log Pow) of 1,6 -dichlorohexane was experimentally determined to be 3.5 at 25°C. Thus, 1,6-dichlorohexane is considered to be not B/vB.

The NOEC for freshwater organisms is >0.01 mg/L and the test item is not classified as a CMR or STOT RE substance. Thus, 1,6 -dichlorohexane is considered to be not T.

In conclusion, the substance is considered to be not PBT/vPvB.
