Description of key information

The vapour pressure of 1,6-dichlorohexane was calculated to be 17.38 Pa at 25°C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Vapour pressure:
11.3 Pa
at the temperature of:
20 °C

Additional information

No experimental data for the vapour pressure of 1,6-dichlorohexane is available. Thus, as recommended in the guidance on Information requirements and Chemical Safety Assessment Chapter R7A endpoint specific guidance the vapour pressure of 1,6-dichlorohexane was calculated using the Antoine´s Equation and the ACD Labs software. Both calculation methods report comparable values for vapour pressure. The coefficients for Antoine´s Equation were taken from the Yaw's Handbook of Antoine Coefficients for Vapour pressure and from Reaxys (Vapour Pressure ad Enthalpy and Entropy of Evaporation of the C6 -C8 an C10 alpha-omega-Dichloro-n-alkanes. The soures are regarded as reliable and the calculations are comprehensible. Thus, the calculation with the Antoine´s Equation was chosen as key parameter.
