Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The potential of cyclohexylamine to accumulate in aquatic organisms is characterized by a calculated BCF of 2.8 and 3.162 for the neutral and protonated form, respectively (Bayer Industry Services, 2006) assuming only a very low potential for bioaccumulation.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Calculated BCF values were used for the hazard assessment of cyclohexylamine despite the fact, that for ionisable substances measured BCF values are preferred over calculated ones. Bioconcentration factors are used to assess the potential to accumulate in aquatic organisms, mainly in the scope of the PBT assessment. Thus, vertebrate-animal testing can be avoided as no additional information is gained through that test. The substance is neither classified as persistent, nor as toxic to aquatic organisms, a measured BCF value would not change the outcome of the PBT assessment.
