Description of key information

dissociation constant: 5.8 at 22 °C (OECD 112; read-across from supporting substance ‘1,3,4-Thiadiazolidine-2,5-dithione, reaction products with hydrogen peroxide and tert-nonanethiol’)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

pKa at 20°C:
5.8

Additional information

The key value was determined according to OECD Guideline 112. The dissociation constant of the supporting substance ‘1,3,4-Thiadiazolidine-2,5-dithione, reaction products with hydrogen peroxide and tert-nonanethiol’ was determined to be 5.8 (standard deviation = 0.23, % RSD = 4).

The GLP guideline study was assigned a reliability score of 2 ("reliable with restrictions") because it was conducted on the closely related substance ‘1,3,4-Thiadiazolidine-2,5-dithione, reaction products with hydrogen peroxide and tert-nonanethiol’. Finally, due to structural similarity the result should be also applicable for the long-chain homologue ‘1,3,4-Thiadiazolidine-2,5-dithione, reaction products with hydrogen peroxide and tert-dodecanethiol’ and adequate for assessment as a stand alone study.
