Model experiments in an artificial stream with an initial
concentration of 12.2 ug anthracene/l showed that
photooxidative reaction of anthracene to anthraquinone is
the main degradation pathway (half-life: 43 min); sediments
and periphytes seemed to be major sinks (0.2 and 0.04 %).
