Conclusion on classification

Experimental data on the long term toxicity of Epoxiconazole are available for fish (90 -d NOEC = 0.01 mg/L), aquatic invertebrates (21-d NOEC = 0.63 mg/L) and algae 72 -h ErC10 = 6.7 µg/L. The most sensitive species is algae.

No data were found for the substance concerning Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 Annex VI Table 3.1 and 3.2.

 

Self-classification

Aquatic compartment

Following CLP (GHS-EU), the substance is considered to be classified as acutely (Acute 1) and chronically hazardous to the aquatic environment (Chronic 1).

Rationale:

The substance is considered to be classified as acutely hazardous to the aquatic environment, since the lowest acute effect value is < 1 mg/L.

Chronic data are available for all three trophic levels; therefore, classification is based on the available chronic toxicity data.

- Chronic toxicity data:

Chronic data are available for the most sensitive specie algae (ErC10 = 6.9 µg/L) indicating that the substance present a long-term hazard according to the categories outlined in Table 4.1.0(b) (i) (Commission Regulation (EU) No 286/2011 amending Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008) for non-rapidly degradable substances. Based on the chronic data, the substance is concluded to be classified as chronically hazardous to the aquatic environment as the lowest EC10 is < 0.1 mg/L

The substance is non-rapidly biodegradable and the log Kow is <4. Based on the acute and chronic data, the substance is considered to be classified as chronically and acutely hazardous to the aquatic environment (Acute 1 and Chronic 1).
