Following GHS, the substance is classified as acutely and chronically hazardous to the aquatic environment (Categories: Acute 1, Chronic 2).

 

Rationale for acute toxicity:

The lowest acute effect value is < 1 mg/L (algae) ) indicating that the substance presents an acute hazard according to the category outlined in Table 4.1.0(a) (Commission Regulation (EU) No 286/2011 amending Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008). The substance is to be classified as Acute 1. The M-factor according to Table 4.1.3 is 1.

 

Rationale for chronic toxicity:

Chronic data are available only for algae, therefore classification is based on the available chronic and acute toxicity data.

- Chronic toxicity data:

Chronic data are available only for algae (ErC10 = 0.07 mg/L) indicating that the substance presents a long-term hazard according to the categories outlined in Table 4.1.0(b) (ii) (Commission Regulation (EU) No 286/2011 amending Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008) for rapidly degradable substances. The substance is to be classified as Chronic 2.

- Acute toxicity data:

Acute toxicity to fish and Daphnia (L/EC50) are > 1 and < 10 mg/L. Since the substance is rapidly biodegradable and the log Pow is < 4, the substance does not present a long-term hazard according to the categories outlined in Table 4.1.0(b) (iii) (Commission Regulation (EU) No 286/2011 amending Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008).
