Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Octylamine will be rapidly degraded by photochemical processes in air (DT50: ca. 10 h; Hoechst, 1992, as cited in BUA, 1996).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Half-life in air:
10 h
Degradation rate constant with OH radicals:
0 cm³ molecule-1 d-1

Additional information

Using Atkinson's method, the photolysis rate constant in air (for indirect photolysis, OH- concentration: 500,000 molecule/cm³) was estimated to be 0.39E-12 cm³/(molecule*sec); (0.000000033696 cm³/molecule*day), and the half-life time approx. 10 hours, i.e. 0.42 days (Hoechst 1992, BUA 1996).
