Within the reliable key study (OXEA, 2009), the flash point of n-octylamine was determined according to EU method A.9 using the Pensky-Martens closed cup method (DIN EN ISO 2719). Two replicate measurements were performed, resulting in a mean flash point of 58 °C at 1013 hPa.

In another study (Kao, 2017), the flash point of n-octylamine was determined according to JIS K 2265-3:2007 using the Pensky-Martens closed cup method (procedure A). Two replicate measurements were performed, resulting in a mean flash point of 63.5 °C at 1013 hPa.

For both studies a reliability of 2 was assigned, because they are performed comparable to guideline study. However, the study (OXEA, 2009) with the lower flash point was selected as key study and for classification because of safety reasons, according to ECHA Guidance on the Application of the CLP Criteria, Version 5.0, chapter 2.6.4.4.2.
