Description of key information

Sulfonic acids, C10 -21 -alkane, Ph esters is characterized by a calculated Henry's Law Constant between 0.040 and 0.061 Pa*m³/mole at a temperature of 20 °C (Currenta, 2010). According to Thomas, cited in the "Handbook of Chemical property Estimation Methods" (Lyman, 1980), the substance tends to partition in water and volatilisation rates are controlled by the slow diffusion through the air. Therefore, the substance has to be scored as being essentially nonvolatile from water.

The Henry’s law constant (HLC) is directly calculated as a ratio of the vapour pressure (VP, 2.94 E-04 Pa) to the water solubility (c, 2.2 mg/L), which are both experimentally determined at 20 °C. As the test item is a UVCB substance, no exact molecular weight can be determined. But for the estimation of the HLC, a molecular weight (MW) of 298.44 and 452.74 g/mol was used representing the compounds with lowest and the highest molecular mass.
