Abiotic degradation:

Sulfamic acid is an inorganic substance, which is stable in the environment. It can be ultimately hydrolysed into ammonium hydrogen sulphate (NH4HSO4) in the environment, which is not classified as hazardous to the aquatic environment in Regulation EC No 1272/2008, but the half-life would be very long. Therefore, the hydrolysis can be ignored at ambient temperature. Considering the structure of the sulfamic acid, it is not likely to be photolyzed in the environment.

Biodegradation:

As the substance is inorganic, the biodegradation is not relevant to sulfamic acid.

Transport and distribution

Sulfamic acid, having a low vapour pressure (0.78 Pa), high water solubility, and non-adsorptive substance, is not inclined to be distributed or transported to the atmosphere, and is not expected to end up in soil via atmospheric deposition.

Sulfamic acid will is expected to remain in the water phase neutralized to sulfamates.
