Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no study available
Additional information:

The substance sulfamic acid is a strong acid (pH 0.82 at 4% aqueous solution) and according to column 2 in Annex VII REACH regulation, for animal welfare reasons this study does not need to be conducted if the substance is a strong acid (ph<2).

A public search for eventual incidents with sulphamidic acid in different databases revealed no finding that would associate sulphamidic acid or ammonium sulphamate with skin or respiratory sensitisation, although sulphamidic acid is in industrial use for almost 100 years.

Respiratory sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no study available
Additional information:

A public search for eventual incidents with sulphamidic acid in different databases revealed no finding that would associate sulphamidic acid or ammonium sulphamate with skin or respiratory sensitisation, although sulphamidic acid is in industrial use for almost 100 years.

Justification for classification or non-classification

No data for skin or respiratory sensitisation are available for sulphamidic acid. Therefore, due to lack of data, classification for skin or respiratory sensitisation according to CLP (Regulation EC No 1272/2008) or DSD (Directive 67/548/EEC) is not required.
