The chemical safety assessment according to Annex I of Regulation (EC) 1907/2006 does not indicate the need to investigate further the long-term toxicity to fish. Thus, in accordance to Annex IX, column 2 no further long-term toxicity test to fish is proposed. Acute toxicity data are available for all three relevant trophic levels i.e. fish, aquatic invertebrates and algae. The most sensitive test organism was algae. The determined EC50(72 h) was 0.5 mg/L. The reported acute effect concentration for Daphnia magna was 2.2 mg/L (EC50(48 h)). Detrimental effects on fish were not observed in the available acute toxicity study on Poecilia reticulata. Thus fish are not the most sensitive species. Therefore long-term toxicity testing with fish was omitted. Chronic toxicity data are available for aquatic invertebrates and algae. A read across study on the long-term toxicity of the source substance Triethylenetetramine linear, cyclic and branched (TETA; CAS 90640-67-8) to aquatic invertebrates determined an EC50 of 10 mg/L (nominal) based on the reproduction rate after 21 days of exposure. The EC10 of 1.9 mg/L was determined via interpolation. In the available study on the toxicity of the target substance to aquatic algae a NOEC (72 h) of 0.16 mg/L for algal growth and biomass respectively was determined.
