Abiotic degradation or biodegradation are no relevant environmental pathways for Amines, polyethylenepoly (PEPA). The substance is not prone to hydrolysis or biodegradation by microorganisms. The substance characteristics i.e. a high water solubility (WS >50 g/L) and low vapour pressure (VP: 0.00077 Pa) indicate that the substance will be mainly dissolved and distributed by water. Volatilisation and distribution via the atmosphere is not likely. Data on the adsorption potential is available for the structurally analogue substance Penta ethylene hexamine (CAS 4067-16-7). In accordance with Article 13 (1) of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, "information on intrinsic properties of substances may be generated by means other than tests, provided that the conditions set out in Annex XI are met.” According to Annex XI, Item 1.5, of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 substances can be considered similar if their physicochemical, toxicological and ecotoxicological properties are likely to be similar or follow a regular pattern as a result of structural similarity. A detailed justification of the Analogue Approach is attached to IUCLID section 13.
A log Koc <3.5 was determined for the source substance Penta ethylene hexamin. The value indicates a potential for adsorption to suspended soil and sediment particles. Based on above mentioned physico-chemical characterises (log Koc, WS and VP) Amines, polyethylenepoly (PEPA) is expected to mainly distribute to water as well as soil and sediment when released to the environment.

PEPA is no expected to bioaccumulate in aquatic or sediment organisms due to the low calculated log Pow of - 3.67.
