Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Data on phototransformation in water are not available for the submission item. As this endpoint is not a standard information requirement in REACH and there is no indication from the Chemical Safety Assessment on the need to investigate further the fate and behaviour of the substance (Annex X, column 1, section 9.3.4. requirement), no testing is deemed necessary.

Due to the spectral properties of the submission item, i.e. absorption at 210 nm within the spectral range of natural daylight (ca. 200 to 2500 nm), direct photodegradation is assumed a potential degradation pathway in upper layers of environmental waters. The slight percental decrease of the submission item in the Lemna growth inhibition test (Vryenhoef 2014, Harlan Laboratories Study No. 41301815) was only in the low test concentrations important, which suggest absorption and biodegradation of the test organisms or adsorption to their biomass rather than photolysis as causation.

Considering the rapid and ready biodegradation of the submission item, photolysis in water is likely to be of low impact compared with biotic degradation, which is expected overcompensating direct photolysis in water by far. In conclusion the photolytic stability of the submission item seems irrelevant for the assessment of the fate in environmental waters and sediments.
