Applicant's summary and conclusion

Validity criteria fulfilled:
yes
Conclusions:
The effect concentration of 6,8-dichloroethylcaprylat, based on nominal starting concentrations were LC50 96h >6 mg/l
Executive summary:

At the beginning of exposure no toxic reaction were observed. However, approximately 2 hours later decreased swimming activity was observed in all fish of the highest concentration of 6 mg/l. Another two hours later loss of equilibrium was noted in all fisch of this group.

Overnight one fish of the highest concentration of 6 mg/l died. The other fish of this group showed slightly decreased swimming activity in the morning but revoverd to normal during the day. There was no mortaility and no adverse effects were noted in the other groups or in the negative control group.

At the highest tested concentration (nominal 6 mg/l) only 34% of the in initial concentration were detected 4 hours after the start of the exposure. All other concentration were below the level of reliable quantification of 1 mg/l and after 24 hours all concentrations were below this level.

pH and temperature were stabel throughout the test period. Dissolved oxygen concentration was always greater than 78% of the air saturation value at the appropirate temperature.

The effect concentration of 6,8-dichloroethylcaprylat, based on nominal starting concentrations were LC50 96h >6 mg/l
