Description of key information

According to the US EPA estimation program (HYDROWIN), the hydrolysis half life for these kind of chemicals are calculated as less than 12 hours.

As the substance is poorly soluble in water an experimental study and analytical measurement especially of the different species of the silanol hydrolysis products or the hydrolysis half life is technically not feasible. According to the US EPA estimation program (HYDROWIN), the hydrolysis half life for these kind of chemicals are calculated as less than 12 hours.

The silanol hydrolysis products can undergo condensation reactions of the type 2Si-OH→ Si-O-Si + H2O. A highly cross-linked network can be formed. The other formed hydrolysis product is an amino alcohol. The amino alcohol is considered to be readily biodegradable according to OECD Guideline criterias (ESIS IUCLID DS).
