Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Reference
Endpoint:
oxidising solids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
2016
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.17 (Oxidising Properties (Solids))
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Contact with:
powdered cellulose
Key result
Sample tested:
test mixture as specified
Remarks:
2:1 sample-to-cellulose ratio
Parameter:
preliminary test
Remarks on result:
mixture does not ignite and burn

The cone-shaped pile of the test mixture did not ignite even after applying the flame continuously for 3 min (max. period) but the test mixture pile only chared without melting.

As the vigour of the reference substance (burnt with the crackling sound) was significantly greater than that of the test mixture (which did not ignite at all), it was concluded that, the test item (DPX-C (Di-Cloro-Di-p-Xililene) is "Non-Oxidizing in Nature" and no further testing was carried out.

Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
DPX-C is regarded as non-oxidizing.
