No toxic effects either in terms of systemic toxicity or localised effects, were seen in any of the available studies (acute toxicity by oral an inhaled routes, repeat dose toxicity and a reproductive toxicity screening study by the oral route, skin and eye irritation, skin sensitisation, and genetic toxicity). As no toxic effects have been observed no toxic threshold values have been identified for any exposure route or duration and it is therefore not possible to calculate a derived no effect level for Silicon Nitride. No toxicological hazards have been identified for this material.
