Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Data on the short-term toxicity of 2,2-bis[[(1-oxoheptyl)oxy]methyl]propane-1,3-diyl bisheptanoate (CAS 25811-35-2) to aquatic organisms are not available. Thus, in accordance to Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 Annex XI, 1.5, a read across to the structurally related substance fatty acids, C5-9 tetraesters with pentaerythritol (CAS 67762-53-2) was conducted. This read-across is justified in detail in the overall summary (IUCLID section 6.1) and within the analogue justification in IUCLID Section 13.
The short-term toxicity of fatty acids, C5-9 tetraesters with pentaerythritol (CAS 67762-53-2) to aquatic invertebrates was investigated in a limit test according to OECD 202 under GLP conditions (Migchielsen, 2012). Daphnia magna were exposed to the substance under static conditions for 48 hours. A water accommodated fraction (WAF) of 100 mg/L (nominal) corresponding to a measured concentration of 1.3 mg/L, was tested. No immobilisation was observed in the treatment throughout the test period of 48 h. Hence, the 48 h-EL50 is determined to be > 100 mg/L based on the nominal test concentration and > 1.3 mg/L based on the measured concentration. Thus, the substance is not expected to by acutely toxic to aquatic invertebrates up to the limit of water solubility. Based on the available results from a structurally related read-across substance (in accordance to Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 Annex XI, 1.5) which is characterized by a similar ecotoxicological profile and comparable structure, it can be concluded that 2,2-bis[[(1-oxoheptyl)oxy]methyl]propane-1,3-diyl bisheptanoate (CAS 25811-35-2) will not exhibit short-term effects on aquatic invertebrates up to the limit of water solubility.
