Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Studies investigating the toxicity of 2,2-bis[[(1-oxoheptyl)oxy]methyl]propane-1,3-diyl bisheptanoate (CAS 25811-35-2) to soil macroorganisms are not available. Therefore, in accordance to Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 Annex XI, 1.5, a read across to three structurally related substances decanoic acid, mixed esters with heptanoic acid, octanoic acid, pentaerythritol and valeric acid (CAS 71010-76-9), fatty acids, C16-18 and C18-unsatd., tetraesters with pentaerythritol (CAS 68604-44-4) and fatty acids, C16-18 and C18-unsaturated, esters with pentaerythritol (CAS 85711-45-1) was conducted. This read-across is justified in detail in the overall summary (IUCLID section 6.3) and within the analgoue justification in IUCLID Section 13.
An acute test following OECD 207 is available for the read across substance decanoic acid, mixed esters with heptanoic acid, octanoic acid, pentaerythritol and valeric acid (CAS No. 71010-76-9; Kelley, 2013). Eisenia fetida was exposed to a test concentration of 1000 mg/kg dw in artificial soil for 14 days. A survival rate of 100% was observed in both the control group and treatment group. Thus, based on earthworm mortality, a NOEC (14 d) ≥ 1000 mg/kg dw was determined. The available studies for the read across substances fatty acids, C16-18 and C18-unsatd., tetraesters with pentaerythritol (CAS 68604-44-4) and fatty acids, C16-18 and C18-unsaturated, esters with pentaerythritol (CAS 85711-45-1) were conducted according to OECD 222 (Amsel, 2013a,b). In both long-term studies, Eisenia andrei was exposed to a test concentration of 1000 mg/kg dw in artificial soil for 56 days. Mortality and reproduction rate were recorded at study termination. No effects were observed resulting in a NOEC (28 d) of ≥ 1000 mg/kg dw based on mortality and a NOEC (56 d) of ≥ 1000 mg/kg dw based on reproduction. Based on the results from structurally related read-across substances (in accordance to Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 Annex XI, 1.5) which are characterized by an equal ecotoxicological profile toxic effects of 2,2-bis[[(1-oxoheptyl)oxy]methyl]propane-1,3-diyl bisheptanoate (CAS 25811-35-2) on soil macroorganisms are not expected.
