Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 103 (Boiling Point)
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.2 (Boiling Temperature)
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EPA OPPTS 830.7220 (Boiling Point / Boiling Range)
GLP compliance:
yes
Type of method:
differential scanning calorimetry
Decomposition:
yes
Decomp. temp.:
187.7 °C

Results:

Preliminary tests in aluminum capsules (pierced lids) did not show any significant endothermic processes corresponding to the liquid-vapor transition phase. With non-pierced lids, the decomposition corresponding to an exothermic process began at about 185 °C before the boiling point was reached.

The decomposition temperature of the purified test material was also measured and it was 187.1 °C.

Description of key information

Decomposition at 187.7 °C starting at ca. 185 °C (OECD 103, EU A.2, EPA OPPTS 830.7220)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The substance (technical grade) under ambient pressure decomposes before boiling. The decomposition temperature was determined using DSC method. A similar behavior was observed for the purified substance, the decomposition temperature of 187.1 °C was determined.
