Key result
Auto-ignition temperature:
430 °C
Atm. press.:
1 011 hPa

Preliminary test:

The result of predetermination was Ti =440°C

First test series:

The result of the first test is that the optimum volume is 0.1 ml and at the temperature of 430°C (T1S), there is no auto-ignition for all the volume (50 to 300 µl)

Second test series:

There was no auto-ignition except for 70 µl (test under 1011 hPa, time to inflammation 14 s)

Third test series:

There was ignition at 434°C (test under 1011 hPa, time to inflammation 15 s)

Conclusions:
The auto-ignition temperature of DIMETHYL 2-METHYL GLUTARATE is 430°C at 1011 hPa.
Executive summary:

The determination of the Auto-Ignition Temperature of the liquid test item (i.e. DIMETHYL 2-METHYL GLUTARATE) has been performed according to the EEC Directive 92/69, part A15 method, the NF T 20 -037 and DIN 51 794 standards and the GLP.

Samples were injected by means of a volumetric syringe to assure a rapid injection. The time lag between injection and ignition was measured for all tests up to 5 minutes. The test vessel was flushed with air, then a sufficient time interval was allowed to ensure temperature stabilisation for the next test.

In the preliminary test, the Ti was 440°C. The result of the first test is that the optimum volume is 0.1 ml and at the temperature of 430°C (T1S), there is no auto-ignition for all the volume (50 to 300 µl). In the second test series, there was no auto-ignition except for 70 µl (test under 1011 hPa, time to inflammation 14 s). In the third test series, there was ignition at 434°C (test under 1011 hPa, time to inflammation 15 s)

Based on these results, the Auto-Ignition Temperature of DIMETHYL 2-METHYL GLUTARATE is 430°C at 1011 hPa.

Description of key information
