The calibration factor Φb was determined to be 1.0305 for double distilled water (Table 1).

Table 2 shows the individual measurements for the surface tension of the aqueous test item solution. From these, the mean and the corrected value for the given solution were calculated and also shown in Table 2. The tabulated values represent rounded results obtained from calculation using the exact raw data.

Executive summary:

The surface tension of an aqueous solution of DIMETHYL 2-METHYL GLUTARATE was evaluated based on the ring method according to the method of the EEC Directive 92/69, part A.5, to the OECD Guideline No. 115 and to the GLP.

The measurements were performed in duplicate, using a ring tensiometter, on an aqueous solution of DIMETHYL 2-METHYL GLUTARATE (90% of saturation concentration).

The surface tension of DIMETHYL 2-METHYL GLUTARATE in water (90% of saturation concentration) was determined to be 64.0 mN/m at 20.7 °C. Therefore DIMETHYL 2-METHYL GLUTARATE is a not surface active substance.
