Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Reference
Endpoint:
melting point/freezing point
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
Measurment date: 29 July 2016.
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study without detailed documentation
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
other: Determination of pour point (ASTM D 97-16)
Deviations:
not specified
Principles of method if other than guideline:
The pour point was determined as the nature of the substance means it is unlikely to have a defined melting point.
GLP compliance:
no
Other quality assurance:
other: The laboratory participates in the international ASTM inter-laboratory test scheme.
Type of method:
pour point
Key result
Melting / freezing pt.:
-18 °C
Atm. press.:
1 012 hPa
Remarks on result:
other: Result is the pour point

The test was run three times with the following results:

 Run  Result (pour point)
 1

-18°C

 2

-18°C

 3

-18°C

The final result is expressed as the mean of all the runs (mean = -18°C)

Conclusions:
The pour point of the test item -18°C at 1012 hPa.
Executive summary:

Introduction

The pour point of the test substance was determined using the following method: ASTM D 97 -16.

Method

The test item is poured into the test jar to level mark. The test jar is closed with the cork carrying the higher-pour thermometer. The test item is cooled without stirring to 9°C above the expected pour point. Pour point are expressed in integers that are positive or negative multiples of 3°C. The test is repeated three times.

Results

 Run  Result (pour point)
 1

-18°C

 2

-18°C

 3

-18°C

The final result is expressed as the mean of all the runs (mean =-18°C)

Conclusion

The pour point of the test item is -18°C at 1012 hPa.

Description of key information

The pour point was determined as the nature of the substance means it is unlikely to have a defined melting point.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Melting / freezing point at 101 325 Pa:
