Executive summary:

Introduction

The water solubility of the test substance was measured using the turbidity method in accordance with EU Method A6 (water solublity)

Method

A sample stock of the test item in tetrahydrofuran (THF) was prepared. A sample solution in water was prepared from this stock and used to establish a suitable starting concentration for the turbidity measurement which was subsequently determined to be 1 % w/w in water.

Turbidity measurements were made using a Hach 2100N Turbidimeter. The solution was diluted by diluting from 50.0 mL to 100.0 mL with filtered water. The turbidity of this solution was measured and the process repeated until five consecutivemeasurements were made with no significant change in turbidity value. The test was performed in duplicate. Two straight lines were obtained using the first six and last six data points and water solubility was calculated as the inverse log of the intercept.
