The toxicities of the three dilithium salts of dicarboxylic acids (C6-C10) to Daphnia magna were determined in GLP-compliant, static, freshwater tests (Tobor-Kaplon 2015) following OECD guideline 202. In all studies the chemical confirmation of the test substance was based on analysis of the appropriate fatty acid, lithium and the total organic carbon (TOC). The study for dilithium azelate was based on the results of a combined range finder / limit study with a 48 h EC50 ≥ 100 mg/L. As the range finding studies suggested some toxicity to Daphnia magna the definitive studies for dilithium azelate and dilithium sebacate were conducted at 10, 18, 32, 56 and 100 mg/L. A 48 h EC50 ≥ 100 mg/L was determined for both dilithium sebacate and dilithium adipate for Daphnia immobilisation. The results of the chemical analysis confirmed that all three test substances were stable over the 48 h duration of the tests and therefore all results are based on nominal concentrations. The results from these studies confirm similar low toxicity for the three substances to D. magna.
