Description of key information

Based on the available data on physical and chemical properties, Cinnamon leaf oil is not classified as hazardous according to  Regulation 1272/2008/EC.


The substance is a reddish-brown to dark-brown liquid with a characteristic odour reminiscent of eugenol.


The melting point is < -20 ºC. The boiling point is 245.7 ºC at an atmospheric pressure of 99.1 kPa.


The density was determined to be 1.0457 g/cm3 at 20 ºC according to OECD TG 109.


The initial VP of Cinnamon Leaf Oil was found to be 14.30 Pa. The corresponding VP of the known constituents ranges from 0.0741 to 536 Pa at 25 ºC (QSAR).


The predicted log Kow range of the known constituents of Cinnamon Leaf Oil was found to be 1.71 – 6.95.
The corresponding Kow ranges from 51.31 – 8949525.3 Of the known constituents of Cinnamon Leaf Oil 8.7 % has a Log Kow > 4 (QSAR).


The main constituent Eugenol has a solubility > 100 mg/L, 14.4 % of the known constituents of Cinnamon Leaf Oil has a water solubility < 100 mg/L. The range of water solubilities for the known constituents of Cinnamon Leaf Oil is 0.54 – 7481.5 mg/L at 25 °C (QSAR).


The surface tension was determined to be 49.4 mN/m at 20.1 ºC according to OECD TG 115.


The flashpoint was determined to be 90.3 ºC according to ASTM D 6450.


The self-ignition temperature was determined to be 380 ºC according to DIN51794 -C98835.
