Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Conclusion on classification

Official classification regarding environmental hazards

Aquatic compartment

- According to Annex II of COMMISSION REGULATION (EU) No 944/2013 of 2 October 2013 amending, for the purposes of its adaptation to technical and scientific progress, Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council on classification, labelling and packaging of substances and mixtures the substance is not to be classified as hazardous to the environment.

- Annex IV of COMMISSION REGULATION (EU) No 944/2013 of 2 October 2013 amending, for the purposes of its adaptation to technical and scientific progress, Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council on classification, labelling and packaging of substances and mixtures the substance is not to be classified as dangerous for the environment.

Self-classification

Following GHS, the substance is not to be classified as acutely hazardous to the aquatic environment. Based on the available chronic data, the substance is not to be classified as chronically hazardous to the aquatic environment.

Rationale:

Acute (short-term) aquatic hazard:

The substance is not to be classified as acutely hazardous to the aquatic environment following table 4.1.0 (a) (Commission Regulation (EU) No 286/2011 amending Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008), since the lowest acute effect value is > 1 mg/L (algae, 72 -h ErC50 = 710 mg/L, SASOL GmbH, 1997).

Chronic (long-term) aquatic hazard:

Chronic data are available for all three trophic levels. Therefore, classification is based on the available chronic toxicity data only.

- Chronic toxicity data: Chronic data are available for fish (NOEC >= 10 mg/L, Isopropanol Amines Consortium, 2022), aquatic invertebrates (21-d EC10 >= 10 mg/L, Isopropanol Amines Consortium, 2022) and algae (72 -h ErC10 = 9.4 mg/L, SASOL GmbH, 1997). The substance is not rapidly degradable(*) and the lowest ErC10 is > 1 mg/L. According to the criteria outlined in Table 4.1.0(b) (i) (Commission Regulation (EU) No 286/2011 amending Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008) the substance is not to be classified hazardous to the environment.

(*) The substance is not readily, nor easily or inherently biodegradable in regulatory terms but it rapidly dissipates from the environment due to degradation in surface water/sediment and in soil.
