Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Reference
Endpoint:
viscosity
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
2011-05-24
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
test procedure in accordance with national standard methods with acceptable restrictions
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Test Guideline 114 (Viscosity of Liquids)
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
no
Type of method:
capillary viscometer (static)
Key result
Temp.:
20°C
Parameter:
dynamic viscosity (in mPa s)
Value:
1.7

The following time results were obtained in three individual measurements:

measurement 1 - 61.82 s

measurement 2 - 61.81 s

measurement 3 - 61.91 s

For the viscosity calculation the average time was considered.

Conclusions:
Under the conditions of the study the obtained viscosity for test substance (at 20 °C ) was 1.7 mPas.
Executive summary:

The viscosity (dynamic viscosity) of the test susbstance tert-butylperoxypivalate 75 % in isododecane was examined by an Ubbelohde viscometer in three separate measurements at 20 °C. An average of the time measured (the time which takes for the liquid to pass between two marked points) was considered for the viscosity calculation. Thus, the viscosity result obtained for tert-butylperoxypivalate 75 % in isododecane was 1.7 mPas.

Description of key information

Under the conditions of the study the obtained viscosity for TBPPI (at 20 °C ) was 1.7 mPas.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Viscosity:
1.7 mPa · s (dynamic)
at the temperature of:
20 °C
