Description of key information

In accordance with column 2 of REACH Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, Annex IX, section 9.4, the studies on terrestrial organisms do not need to be conducted as neither direct nor indirect exposure of the soil compartment is expected with the "reaction product of oleyl alcohol with polyphosphoric acid". The exposure via air is considered to be negligible, because the vapour pressure of the "reaction product of oleyl alcohol with polyphosphoric acid" is very low. In addition, acute tests on aquatic algae showed no toxicity up to limit concentration. In summary, due to the ecotoxicological data and low bioavailability caused by low water solubility, it is concluded that tests on terrestrial plants will not provide additional information for the ecotoxicological risk assessment. Moreover, the exposure via different pathways is limited. Consequently the terrestrial studies are waived.
