Remarks on result:
not thermal sensitive if heated under defined confinement

In the Bam Fall Hammer (mechanical sensitivity (shock)) test, no explosion occurred in any of six replicate tests under the conditions of the test.

In the Koenen steel tube (thermal sensitivity) test, no explosion occurred in any of six replicate tests under the conditions of the test.

Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
A negative result for explosive properties by thermal and mechanical sensitivity was demonstrated in a reliable study conducted according to an appropriate test protocol conducted in accordance to GLP.

Description of key information

Explosiveness: Not explosive

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information

Three reliable measured studies are available for cyclohexyl(dimethoxy)methylsilane. A negative result for explosive properties by thermal and mechanical (shock) sensitivity was demonstrated for the substance in a study conducted according to EU Test Method A.14 and in compliance with GLP. The result is considered to be reliable and is selected as key study.

The key study was supported by two other studies, which reported negative results for the substance in a mechanical sensitivity studies.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The substance is not classified for explosiveness according to Regulation (EC) No. This is on the basis of the negative results obtained during thermal and mechanical sensitivity study in accordance with EU Test Method A.14.
