(3-chloro-2-hydroxypropyl)trimethylammonium chloride is very slightly toxic to fish. In a short-term toxicity study the nominal LC50 value for fish is 4128 mg/L. The pH ranged from 6.5-8.0 and pH lower than 7.0 was observed with the highest test concentration (10000 mg/L nominal).
