key study
Study period:
2010
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study with acceptable restrictions
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 105 (Water Solubility)
Deviations:
yes
Remarks:
The study was conducted at 20°C, including incubation.
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Type of method:

Water solubility:
ca. 4 mg/L
Conc. based on:
test mat.
Temp.:
20 °C
pH:
5.7
Details on results:
The saturation concentration of the test item was measured using an HPLC method. The linearity of the analytical method was proven in the concentration range from 0.1 to 6 mg/L. The regression coefficient (r²) was 0.9999. The results of the measurements are summarized in table 1. The results of the 72h samples differ widely from 24h and 48 h incubated samples. Therefore, the 72h results were disregarded. In conclusion, the water solubility of the test item is 4 mg/L.

Conclusions:
The water solubility of the test item is around 4 mg/L.
Executive summary:

Water solubility of polysulfides di-tert-bu was determined according to the shake-flask method detailed in OECD TG 105 according to GLP. Sur-saturated solutions were prepared at 50 mg/L and incubated at 20°C for 24h, 48h and 72h. At each sampling time, solutions were filtered before analytical determination of the concentrations. Results showed some variability. Overall, it can be safely concluded that water solubility of the test item was around 4 mg/L.

Description of key information
