Reference
Endpoint:
auto-ignition temperature (liquids)
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
22 Feb - 22 Feb 2002
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study without detailed documentation
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.15 (Auto-Ignition Temperature (Liquids and Gases))
Deviations:
no
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
DIN 51794 (Testing of mineral oil hydrocarbons - Determination of ignition temperature)
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Key result
Auto-ignition temperature:
485 °C
Remarks on result:
other: The atmospheric pressure was not measured.

Testing commenced with a range-finding determination of the auto ignition temperature. An initial ignition was observed at a temperature of 490 °C. Proceeding from this temperature, the lowest result in the main test run were found to be 485 °C.

Validity criteria for the measurement of the auto flammability:

The study was performed according to test procedure A. 15 and DIN 51794. However, a details of the results (such as test temperatures, results concerning ignition, corresponding time-lags) are not stated. Thus, the values obtained by this study may be considered as being valid with restrictions.

Conclusions:
Based on the individual measurements, the auto ignition temperature of the test substance is specified as 485°C.
Executive summary:

The auto ignition temperature of the test substance is specified as 485°C.

Description of key information
