Materials and methods

Test guideline
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 103 (Boiling Point)
Principles of method if other than guideline:
The boiling point was determined according to “Photocell detection” in OECD 103. A boiling tube loaded the sample and a boiling capillary into it, is placed in the heated metal block of the apparatus. The temperature rise is adjusted at a suitable pre-selected linear rate, and the vapor pressure of sample is increasing. The bubbles begin to emerge rapidly from the capillary when the vapor pressure equals the atmospheric pressure. The photocell of apparatus gives the boiling point which is corrected to the standard atmospheric pressure based on the frequency of bubbles generation.
GLP compliance:
no
Type of method:

Results and discussion

Boiling point
Atm. press.:
ca. 101.3 kPa
Remarks on result:
not determinable
Remarks:
When heated to 274℃, the sample changed from colorless transparent liquid to yellow transparent liquid; when heated to 291℃, it changed to yellow-brown, and the color gradually deepened as the temperature increased; when heated to 310℃~360℃, the sample turned black, and the boiling point of the sample was not observed.
