Description of key information

No ecotoxicity tests with benthic organisms have been performed with Sodium tallowamphopolycarboxy glycinate. Toxicity to sediment organisms is not a standard information requirement in Annex IX.

In the absence of measured data the PNECsed can provisionally be calculated using the equilibrium partitioning method (EPM).

PNECsed-EPM   = 1.31 mg/kg ww

= 6.02 mg/kg dw

= 0.60 mg/kg dw for strongly sorbing substances (additional factor of 10 to compensate for the additional exposure via ingestion).

Additional information

PNECsed for Sodium oleylamphopolycarboxy glycinate

In the absence of measured data the PNECsed can provisionally be calculated using the equilibrium partitioning method (EPM). According to REACh guidance R.16 this method uses the PNECaquatic and the sediment/water partitioning coefficient as inputs.

The PNECsed is then calculated using the equations detailed in REACH guidance R.16:

PNECsed =   Ksusp-water* PNECaquatic dissolved* 1000 * 1 / RHOsusp

Where:

PNECaquatic dissolved       = 0.72 µg/L

Koc                             = 83648 L/kg

Focsusp-sed                 = 0.10

Kd susp                       =Focsusp-sed* Koc = 0.10 * 83648 =8364.8 L/kg

Ksusp-water                 = 2091 m3/m3

RHOsusp                     = 1150 kg/m3

PNECsed-EPM            = 1.31 mg/kg ww

= 6.02 mg/kg dw

= 0.60 mg/kg dw for strongly sorbing substances (additional factor of 10 to compensate for the additional exposure via ingestion).
