Description of key information

1.FR-522 is not considered readily biodegradable
2. FR-522 is inherently biodegradable

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Biodegradation in water:
inherently biodegradable

Additional information

FR-522 is biodegradable under aerobic conditions at concentrations of 200 mg/L. Enriched soil inocula were capable of degrading 44% of the FR-522 during 33 days and 100% during the same period when supplied with additional carbon sources (yeast extract) as described in the paper of Segev which emphasize the ability of the substance to undergo biodegradation.
