Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

No effect up to the limit of the water solubility of the stearamide was observed. Thus, the EC50 exceeds the water solubility of the test substance (EC50 > 0.17 mg/L) . The test substance is not harmful to algae.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

This information will be submitted later based on ECHA communication/decision number CCH-D-2114598316-37-01/F

Data about stearamide are not available. However as the substance Amides, C16-18 (even numbered) differs from the target only in composition (< 80% C18), read across data for this structural similar substance are considered for the acute toxicity to algae.

One GLP guideline study according to OECD 201 is available for Amides, C16-18 even numbered. In the 72 hour algae study with Desmodesmus subspicatus no effects on growth rate were observed to an initial measured test concentration of 0.17 mg/L, the highest attainable concentration. This study showed that there were no toxic effects at saturation. The test substance is not harmful to algae.
