Description of key information

The NOEC for freshwater invertebrates is > 80 µg/L, no long term effects in the range of water solubility.

One study investigating the chronic toxicity of the structural related test substance (Z)-docos-13-enamide (CAS No. 112-84-5) to Daphnia magna was available. This study was carried out according to the OECD Guideline 202:Daphnia sp., Acute Immobilisation Test and Reproduction Test (1984), under GLP conditions. After 21 days of exposure to (Z) -docos-13-enamide no effects on reproduction or growth were observed under the tested conditions, thus a NOEC > 80 µg/L was determined. Based on read across to erucamide, long term effects are not expected for stearamide.
