Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Specific details on test material used for the study:
SOURCE OF TEST MATERIAL
- Source and lot/batch No.of test material: PFW100113
- Analytical purity: 99.3% (by GC)

STABILITY AND STORAGE CONDITIONS OF TEST MATERIAL
- Storage condition of test material: the sample is stored in cool, well-ventilated storage area prior to testing.

OTHER SPECIFICS:
- Name of test material (as cited in study report): Jeffcat DMDEE
- Physical state: Liquid
Parameter:
other: Expert statement
Value:
0
Remarks on result:
not required
Remarks:
No chemical groups associated with explosive properties; No oxygen bound in energetic functional groups; Oxygen balance is -216 (below criteria for consideration)

Examination of the structural formula of DMDEE indicates:

- There are no chemical groups associated with explosive properties.

- The oxygen is not bound in energetic functional groups - it is bound in C-O-C groups which do not possess explosive behaviour. The oxygen balance is -216 -blow the criteria for consideration (-200).

Based on this combination of factors, it is beyond reasonable doubt that the material will not exhibit explosive properties. There are no elements of the screening procedure which begin to suggest that explosive properties may be exhibited by the substance. The conduct of the A.14 tests is therefore not considered appropriate.

Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
The substance is concluded not to be explosive as based on the chemical structure the substance does not contain any chemically instable or highly energetic groups that might lead to an explosion. In addition, the oxygen is not bound in energetic functional groups.

Description of key information

The test substance was concluded not to have explosive properties following a theoretical assessment in a GLP study according to test method EU A.14 (statement) (Younis, 2011).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information

Justification for classification or non-classification

The test substance does not need to be classified as explosive as based on the chemical structure the substance does not contain any chemically instable or highly energetic groups that might lead to an explosion.
