Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

TEST OF THERMAL SENSITIVITY

None of the tubes were fragmented and there was no explosion during either measurement (orifice diameter of 6.0 and 2.0 mm). The test result was negative. The test substance, Solvent Red 19E, is not liable to explode under conditions of intense heat and defined confinement.

TEST OF MECHANICAL SENSITIVITY WITH RESPECT TO SHOCK

An explosion was not obtained during the six tests at 40 J. The test substance, Solvent Red 19E, was not sensitive with respect to shock.

Interpretation of results:
other: Non-explosive (EU criteria)
Conclusions:
The test substance was not sensitive with respect to heating and shock. The test substance, Solvent Red 19E, has no explosive properties.
Executive summary:

Solvent Red 19E was tested to determine whether or not it presents a danger of explosion when submitted to the effect of heating and shock. The study was performed according to the Method A.14 Explosive properties, Council Regulation (EC) No.440/2008, published in O.J. L 142, 2008.

The test of thermal sensitivity involves heating the test substance in a steel tube, closed by orifice plates with holes of differing diameters, to determine whether the test substance is liable to explode under conditions of intense heat and defined confinement. The weighed test substance was filled into new steel tubes. The tubes were closed with an orifice plate (6 or 2 mm orifice) and heated for 5 minutes.

The test of mechanical sensitivity with respect to shock involves subjecting the test substance to shock by a specified mass dropped from a specified height. 40 mm³ of test substance was used for the test. A series of six tests was performed by dropping a 10 kg mass from 0.40 m (energy 40 J).

Under the conditions of this study, the test substance was not sensitive with respect to heating and shock. The test substance, Solvent Red 19E, has no explosive properties.

Description of key information

Justification for classification or non-classification

In accordance with the criteria for classification as defined in Annex I, Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008, the substance does not require classification with respect to explosiveness.
