Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
flammable solids
Data waiving:
study technically not feasible
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a liquid
Justification for type of information:
JUSTIFICATION FOR DATA WAIVING
In accordance with section 1 of REACH Annex XI testing does not appear scientifically necessary as the substance is a liquid at room temperature. The study for flammable solids is therefore omitted.
The flammability of liquids is determined on basis of their flashpoint (in combination with their boiling point).
Endpoint:
substances / mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the experience in production or handling shows that the substance does not react with water, e.g. the substance is manufactured with water or washed with water
Justification for type of information:
JUSTIFICATION FOR DATA WAIVING
In accordance with point 1 of Annex XI, it is considered justified to omit the testing for substances or mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases. Testing does not appear scientifically necessary as experience in use and experience of handling the substance indicates that it does not emit flammable gases in contact with water.
Endpoint:
pyrophoric liquids
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be stable in contact with air at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days) and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied
Justification for type of information:
JUSTIFICATION FOR DATA WAIVING
In accordance with section 1.5 of REACH Annex XI, the study does not need to be performed as based on chemical structure pyrophoric properties are not to be expected. In addition, in the daily use and handling of the substance during which continuous exposure to air can occur, no spontaneous ignition is observed.

Description of key information

In accordance with section 1 of REACH Annex XI testing does not appear scientifically necessary. The flammability of liquids is determined on basis of their flashpoint (in combination with their boiling point), their ability to emit flammable gases upon contact with water and their pyrophoricity. The molecular structure of the substance does not contain groups that indicate potential reactivity with water or pyrophoric properties. There are also no concerns from experience in use.

In the flash point study performed, deflagration occurred at 170 °C and no flash point was detected.

Justification for classification or non-classification

In accordance with the criteria for classification as defined in Annex I, Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008, the substance does not require classification with respect to flammability.
