Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Immediately remove contaminated clothing. If the patient is likely to become unconscious, place and transport in stable sideways position (recovery position). First aid personnel should pay attention to their own safety.

If inhaled:

If difficulties occur after vapour/aerosol has been inhaled, remove to fresh air and seek medical attention.

On skin contact:

Immediately wash thoroughly with plenty of water, apply sterile dressings, consult a skin specialist.

On contact with eyes:

Immediately wash affected eyes for at least 15 minutes under running water with eyelids held open, consult an eye specialist.

On ingestion:

Immediately rinse mouth and then drink plenty of water, do not induce vomiting, seek medical attention.

Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed

Symptoms: The most important known symptoms and effects are described in the labelling (see section 2) and/or in section 11 of the safety data sheet.

Further important symptoms and effects are so far not known.

Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed

Treatment: Treat according to symptoms (decontamination, vital functions), no known specific antidote.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media: water spray, foam, carbon dioxide, dry powder

Unsuitable extinguishing media for safety reasons: water jet

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture

carbon oxides, nitrogen oxides, irritant gases/vapours, toxic gases/vapours

Do not release chemically contaminated water into drains, soil or surface water. Sufficient measures must be taken to retain the water used for extinguishing. Dispose of contaminated water and soil according to local regulations.

Advice for fire-fighters

Special protective equipment:

Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and chemical-protective clothing.

Accidental release measures

Sources of ignition should be kept well clear. Avoid contact with the skin, eyes and clothing. Do not breathe vapour/spray.

Environmental precautions

Do not discharge into drains/surface waters/groundwater.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up

Pick up with suitable absorbent material (e.g. sand, sawdust, general-purpose binder, kieselguhr).

Collect waste in suitable containers, which can be labeled and sealed.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling

Handle and open container with care. Avoid vapor formation. When using do not eat, drink or smoke.

Provide good ventilation of working area (local exhaust ventilation if necessary).

Protection against fire and explosion:

Vapours may form ignitable mixture with air. Take precautionary measures against static discharges.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities

Further information on storage conditions: Segregate from foodstuffs. Keep only in the original container. Take precautionary measures against static discharges. Keep container tightly closed.

Avoid all sources of ignition: heat, sparks, open flame.

Exposure controls / personal protection

No occupational exposure limits.

Respiratory protection:

Respiratory protection in case of vapour/aerosol release. Particle filter with medium efficiency for solid and liquid particles (e.g. EN 143 or 149, Type P2 or FFP2)

Hand protection:

Chemical resistant protective gloves (EN 374) Suitable materials for short-term contact (recommended: At least protective index 2, corresponding >30 minutes of permeation time according to EN 374) butyl rubber (butyl) - 0.7 mm coating thickness nitrile rubber (NBR) - 0.4 mm coating thickness

Supplementary note: The specifications are based on tests, literature data and information of glove manufacturers or are derived from similar substances by analogy. Due to many conditions (e.g.temperature) it must be considered, that the practical usage of a chemical-protective glove in practice may be much shorter than the permeation time determined through testing.

Manufacturer's directions for use should be observed because of great diversity of types.

Eye protection:

Tightly fitting safety goggles (cage goggles) (e.g. EN 166) and face shield.

Body protection:

Body protection must be chosen based on level of activity and exposure., acid- resp. lye-proof apron, e.g. of rubber (f.e. according to EN 14605), protection boots, f.e. of rubber (e.g. according to EN 20346), acid-proof chemical protection suit (f.e. according to EN 14605).

General safety and hygiene measures

Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. No eating, drinking, smoking or tobacco use at the place of work.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity

No hazardous reactions if stored and handled as prescribed/indicated.

Chemical stability

The product is stable if stored and handled as prescribed/indicated.

Possibility of hazardous reactions

No hazardous reactions known.

Stable under normal conditions.

Conditions to avoid

Avoid electro-static discharge.

Incompatible materials

Substances to avoid: strong acids, strong bases, strong oxidizing agents

Hazardous decomposition products

Hazardous decomposition products: carbon oxides, nitrogen oxides, toxic gases/vapours

Disposal considerations

Waste treatment methods

Must be sent to a suitable incineration plant, observing local regulations.

Contaminated packaging:

Contaminated packaging should be emptied as far as possible and disposed of in the same manner as the substance/product.

Clean packaging material should be subjected to waste management schemes (recovery recycling, reuse) according to local legislation.
