Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
Biodegradation of disodium 4,4'-dinitrostilbene-2,2'-disulphonate in water shows 50% degaradation in 60 days and 50% degradation in 541 days. Its half-life in water and sediment, 60 days, exceeds the EPA criteria of >= 2 months (and <= 6 months). Therefore, Benzenesulfonic acid, 2,2'-(1,2-ethenediyl)bis[5-nitro-, disodium salt is estimated to be persistent in the environment.
