Endpoint:
particle size distribution (granulometry)
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
2012
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Remarks:
Guideline compliant study with good documentation
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
other: DIN 66165 April 1987
Principles of method if other than guideline:
A representative part of the test item is given to a sieve tower and classified by means of a hand or machine sieving. From the weighted sieve fractions the particle size distributions and the frequency scale are determined.
GLP compliance:
no
Type of method:
sieving
Type of distribution:
mass based distribution
Percentile:

Mean:
781 µm
Remarks on result:
other: In the gain fraction > 1400 µm are particle up to a size of 7.5 cm x 2.5 cm.

other: In the gain fraction > 1400 µm are particle up to a size of 7.5 cm x 2.5 cm.
Percentile:
D90
Mean:
> 1 400 µm
Remarks on result:
other: In the gain fraction > 1400 µm are particle up to a size of 7.5 cm x 2.5 cm.

In the gain fraction > 1400 µm are particle up to a size of 7.5 cm x 2.5 cm.

Conclusions:
The mean particle size (D50) is > 1400 µm. The D10 is 781 µm. In the gain fraction > 1400 µm are particle up to a size of 7.5 cm x 2.5 cm.
Executive summary:

In the Klimisch 1 study from Bütfering (2012) the particle size distribution of Sodium dicyclohexyl sulfosuccinate was determined according to DIN 66165.A representative part of the test item was given to a sieve tower and classified by means of a hand or machine sieving. From the weighted sieve fractions the particle size distributions and the frequency scale were determined. The mean particle size (D50) is > 1400 µm. The D10 is 781 µm. In the gain fraction > 1400 µm are particle up to a size of 7.5 cm x 2.5 cm.

The results of this study are considered reliable and relevant for the risk assessment.
