flammable solids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
2012
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Remarks:
Guideline compliant study with good documentation
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.10 (Flammability (Solids))
GLP compliance:
no
Key result
Test procedure:
burning time (test type not further specified)
Remarks:
or specified in description of method (migrated information)
Burning time:
>= 240 s
Remarks on result:
other: In the preliminary screening test the substance does ignite but the flame ceases without propagating combustion after a few seconds.

In the preliminary screening test the substance does ignite but the flame ceases without propagating combustion after a few seconds. Therefore the combustion is beyond the specified time frame for flammability in the preliminary screening test of 4 minutes for 200 mm.

According to the definition in the Council Regulation (EC) No 440/2008, method A.10., the test item Sodium dicyclohexyl sulfosuccinate is not considered as flammable.

Interpretation of results:
not classified based on GHS criteria
Conclusions:
According to the definition in the Council Regulation (EC) No 440/2008EEC the test item Sodium dicyclohexyl sulfosuccinate is not considered as flammable.
Executive summary:

In the non-GLP Klimisch 1 study from Bütfering (2012), the flammability of Sodium dicyclohexyl sulfosuccinate was determined according to EU method A.10. The preliminary screening test showed no propagation over a distance of 200 mm during 240 seconds. Therefore no full test was carried out. According to the definition in the Council Regulation (EC) No 440/2008EEC the test item Sodium dicyclohexyl sulfosuccinate is not considered as flammable.

Description of key information

non flammable

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
not classified

Additional information

In the non-GLP Klimisch 1 study from Bütfering (2012), the flammability of Sodium dicyclohexyl sulfosuccinate was determined according to EU method A.10. The preliminary screening test showed no propagation over a distance of 200 mm during 240 seconds. Therefore no full test was carried out.

Since the substance is typically used as aqueous solution, based on experience it can be excluded that the substance is flammable when it comes in contact with water.

Justification for classification or non-classification

According to the definition in the Council Regulation (EC) No 440/2008EEC the test item Sodium dicyclohexyl sulfosuccinate is not considered as flammable.
